Colne Medical Centre is a branch of the ColTe Partnership.
The Partnership are offering appointments outside the normal working hours of the surgery.
You can now make appointments at times up to 8 pm on weekdays, on Saturdays during the day and Sunday mornings. You can be seen at any of the following practices at these times; Creffield Medical Centre in Colchester or in Ambrose Surgery at Tollgate.
There is a range of appointments being offered with General Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners and Physiotherapists.
Please phone the surgery and ask the receptionist to book an appointment.

We run a range of clinics. For an appointment or further details please call our main surgery at Colne Medical Centre on (01206 302522.
Antenatal clinic - Tuesday 13:30 -16:15 run by the midwives.
Child health and immunisation - Tuesday 13:00 -15:30. All new babies are invited for regular check-ups from eight weeks old. Please remember to bring your child's personal health record book for your appointments at the Surgery.
Diabetes - led by our nursing team, this clinic offers advice and general health check-ups.
Patients will be invited to the practice for annual checks by letter or text message.
Asthma - one of our practice nurses sees patients to help in asthma care. Please make an appointment for your annual check-up.
Family planning - A full family planning service is available including coil fitting, removal and advice. We also have clinicians trained to insert Nexplanon contraceptive implants. Please make an appointment with the practice nurse.
Emergency Contraception - The morning after pill is effective up to 72 hours after unprotected sex, but it is best taken as soon as possible; so please ask the Receptionist for an emergency appointment. A GP or Nurse Practitioner will be able to see you for this. You can also purchase the morning after pill from a Pharmacist without arranging an appointment.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

The practice nurses are available for appointments every weekday morning and afternoon at Brightlingsea.

They can perform:
Dressings of wounds and leg ulcers
Suture or clip removal following surgery
Should you suffer a minor injury such as a laceration, superficial burn or foreign body in the eye the practice nurse will be able to treat you. It may be the case that you are sent to the nearest minor injuries department if an x-ray or further investigation is required.
If you suspect a fracture please visit the nearest minor injuries unit in the first instance.
There are units at Clacton at Colchester, you do not need an appointment for these clinics.
